Alexis : Just want to take a moment and comment on my 2 condo's here in Tres Mares. If I had sat down 2 yrs ago and said "Here's what I want" It would be exactly what I got. Remarkable and not one single complaint. It was all we would have hoped for and couldn't have asked for more and the timeliness was fantastic. Tim McCandless B-8-03 & B-8-04

About Silva Brisset Realtors

Isaac Saba Raffoul was born in Mexico City in (1923-2008), the son of a Syrian-born Jewish dry goods merchant, who arrived in Mexico at the turn of the twentieth century. The family ran a small textile business from a stall in the capital's La Lagunilla market, making curtains for local theatre companies - which often failed to pay their bills. But the venture began to prosper when Isaac took full control, and it eventually formed the basis of the Grupo Xtra holding company, which remained wholly-owned by Isaac and his sons Alberto, Manuel and Moisés.

In 2000 Grupo Xtra consolidated the family's fortunes by taking over Casa Autrey, a leading Mexican pharmaceuticals wholesaler, which had begun as a small chemist's shop, Botica Americana, in the oil boom town of Tampico, on the Gulf of Mexico, in 1892. The result was Grupo Casa Saba (SAB), which dominates the Mexican pharmaceutical and beauty products distribution industry, with a network of 22 depots using the latest computer and robot technology.

Saba pursued aggressively expansionist policies to the very end of his life, making an unsuccessful bid for the government-owned Aeromexico airline in 2005, and later joining forces with General Electric in an attempt to break the stranglehold on Mexican television of the Televisa-TV Azteca duopoly. He finally relinquished day-to-day control of his diversified business empire to his sons.

The family business empire was based on two groups of companies: Grupo Casa Saba, one of Mexico's largest pharmaceutical and cosmetics distributors, and Grupo Xtra, a holding company with interests in a wide range of activities, from textiles to chemicals, consumer finance and Marriott hotels in Cancún and Puerto Vallarta.
